Back to School 2019

Hello All!

My name is Lorrenne Alkema  and I am the new Principal of Pebble Hill Traditional Elementary.  I am very excited to be joining the Pebble Hill Community! I have worked as an educator in Delta for almost 18 years.  I taught in several schools in the district and most recently was the Vice-Principal of Holly in Ladner.  It was a true pleasure to visit Pebble Hill on a number of occasions back in June as well as spend some time in the school getting to know the place and settling in a bit this summer.  Mrs. Hopkinson along with the rest of the staff have been a wonderful help during this transition. I am so impressed by the dedication to learning at Pebble Hill. It’s sure to be a great year! I very much look forward to seeing the children’s smiling faces back in the hallways in September and get things started up (again)!

To our new families, I want to welcome you!  To new and returning families – I am excited to meet you!  Please come and introduce yourselves. I believe it’s important that we work together to support Pebble Hill students as they grow and learn.

We are hard at work getting things ready for your children to arrive.  I wanted to let you know that the office will be open starting Monday, August 26th if you’d like to connect about something.  Of course, you can always email me as well. Please don’t hesitate. The first day of school is Tuesday, September 3rd. All students (except new Kindergarten students) will attend from 9am – 12pm on Sept. 3rd.  Regular school hours resume for Grades 1-7 on Wednesday, Sept. 4th.  Kindergarten students will follow their assigned gradual entry times as per the notice sent home to them in June.  On the first day, generally, returning students will proceed to the same classes they were in last year and new students will meet in the gym.  I will send more information about this out later next week.

I’m looking forward to getting to know you and your children!  Until then, enjoy the summer!

Sincerely,

Lorrenne Alkema

(Mrs. Alkema) 🙂
