INFORMATION FOR FAMILIES
Communications Survey Results
Prior to the summer break, we invited parents and caregivers to provide feedback regarding which communication channels from their child’s school and the school district worked best for them. We received almost 1,100 responses.
- Email is the preferred communication channel for most families, for both urgent and non-urgent information from their child’s school and the district.
- School/Principal’s newsletters are valued, especially for information on upcoming events and activities.
- The school and district websites are not a main source of information for families.
- Social media is not relied on as a communications channel.

Upcoming Parent/ Care Giver Information Sessions:
FamilySmart “HELP FOR THE HARD TIMES” workshops are an offering for parents and caregivers as they support their child after a hospital stay or ER visit for mental health. When it comes to caring for our children and youth after a crisis, we know as parents ourselves how important it is to feel prepared and supported. These online workshops were created by our team to support parents after discharge from hospital and are offered at various days and times each month.
