Pebble Hill Traditional School Goals:

Curriculum Goal 

This year, our goal is to ensure that the BC Mathematics curriculum is taught with an approach (MathMinds) that supports maximizing the potential of ALL students. In addition, we will be teaching social-emotional strategies that help students build confidence, resilience, and a growth mindset. Our aim is to prepare students to be successful not only in numeracy, but also in school more broadly.

Curriculum Goal Update (May 2026)

 There have been a lot of activities that have supported our goal. For example:

  • We reintroduced Growth Mindset to teachers through collaboration time and a Professional Development opportunities
  • All classes from K-7 took part in daily fluency lessons and tasks.
  • We coordinated class visits from our CYCW and counsellor to promote Growth Mindset thinking.
  • We shared ready-made resources for resiliency lessons.
  • Our PAC generously purchased school goal-related resources.
  • We hosted visits from our District Numeracy coordinator that were tailored to our goal.
  • Finally, the PAC sponsored a highly successful Family Math Night.

In all of these efforts, we used Data as a Guide. Where did the data come from? We pulled insights from four data sources:

  • Report cards
  • FSA Results
  • The Learning Survey, which included 3 of our own questions related to our goal
  • A Teacher Growth Mindset Survey

We are very happy to report that the students have shown growth in their fluency knowledge in numeracy over the course of this school year.

The results also point to students having difficulty with the problem solving and application portion of numeracy. The data also clearly shows that we have more work to do around Growth Mindset and perseverance. This information will help us to formulate our goal for next year.

We aim to foster a community where every student demonstrates respect, takes responsibility for their actions, and builds resilience in the face of challenges. By embodying these values, we strive to create an environment where everyone can learn, grow, and succeed together.

Our School Goals align with the Delta School District Vision 2030 by focusing on numeracy and Growth Mindset we engage in the teaching and learning to inspire thriving and future who have developed important, life enriching values.
